The Social Media Club of Salt Lake City was co-founded and launched in 2009 with the help of Pete Codella of Codella Marketing.

Codella served as the chapter's first program director and chair of the Utah Social Media Awards.

The goal of SMC of SLC is to be the local voice of social media and provide a forum and networking opportunity for social media practitioners and those interested in learning more about social media.
